Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Kitgum.

The driver will pick you up from your accommodation early in the morning and give you a briefing before driving you to Kitgum, which is in the northern region of Uganda. Following a brief lunch break, you will resume your journey to Kitgum.

Fugly’s Hotel.

Day 2: Kitgum to Kidepo valley national park.

You will travel through villages and agricultural areas as you make your way to Kidepo Valley National Park after a leisurely breakfast. You’ll check in when you get to the park, and then you’ll eat lunch. One of Africa’s best wilderness areas is Kidepo. A savanna panorama stretches in all directions from Apoka, at the center of the national park, far beyond the 1442 km2 gazetted area, towards vistas framed by distant mountain ranges. You’ll take a nighttime game drive later.

UWA bandas.

Day 3: Game drives and Kanangorok hot springs.

After an early breakfast, set off on a game drive through Kidepo Valley’s trails. With over 80 species of mammals, many of which are endemic to Kidepo National Park including the cheetah, the striped hyena, and the caracal, as well as over 465 bird species, including ostriches, the park is home to one of Uganda’s most fascinating faunas. Drive back to the lodge for a relaxation and dinner.

Apoka lodge.

Day 4: Visit the Karamojong homestead.

You will go to a Karamojong village after a late breakfast to discover more about their culture, music, and dance. You will travel to Kitgum town after lunch. The Karamojong are infamous for robbing cattle, and Karamoja has a cow culture. Unlike the majority of Ugandans, the Karamojong choose to wear “traditional” clothing, such as a shawl that resembles a blanket and is frequently red and black. Extensive beading is worn by women. Get back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to Murchison falls national park.

After breakfast, you will leave early for Gulu and then Murchison Falls National Park through the northern sector, stopping for lunch en route. The stunning Murchison Falls, the park’s focal point and the last of an 80-kilometer length of rapids are created when the Victoria Nile plunges 45 meters over the remaining rift valley wall and cuts through the park. The river is reduced to a broad, tranquil stream that silently runs across the rift valley floor into Lake Albert after the powerful cascade drains the last of the river’s force. Elephants, giraffes, and buffalo are just a few of the species you may witness as you travel through the park to get to the hotel; permanent residents include hippos, Nile crocodiles, and aquatic birds.

Day 6: Game drive and boat trip to the bottom and top of the falls.

You will depart for a 3–4 hour game drive after your early morning breakfast. While in the savannah, you can expect to see a wide variety of animals, including giraffes, lions, Jackson hartebeest, Uganda kob, elephants, and numerous birds. Return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you’ll have a boat tour to the base of the Murchison Falls, trek to the top of the falls, and then be met by your guide to be taken back to your lodging.

Parkside lodge.

Day 7: Departure.

Enjoy your early morning breakfast and check out with your packed lunch to embark on your journey back to Kampala. You will be dropped off at the airport where you will get your flight back home.
